Big big favorite!
I am a true American classic literature uncultivated (U.S., I should say!). I studied a bit at university, but nothing comprehensive. Bridging this gap was one of my resolutions. I just finished Do not shoot the mockingbird and I can say I'm more than determined to continue this tradition. I'm not really attracted to the United States, as I can be of some Asian countries or the misty and mysterious Victorian England or Russia from the cold. And yet I loved universe Do not shoot the mockingbird ! This reminded me The Adventures of Tom Sawyer I read ages ago (I had not 10 years!) During the summer. I love these stories of children discovering the world of the South, mops, leaving in their incredible delusions, their boundless imagination, but also opening to the realities of life, racism, intolerance, ... ! I really board right away. I let myself go in the game scouts, Jem and Dill with infinite happiness. This book reads a Trafficking . Simple, addictive, beautifully written, exciting, touching, it has all the qualities. As I liked the character of Atticus. A jewel that man! His thoughts, his actions, his attitudes, his doubts, his questionings, I devoured the lines talking to him. All the characters are incredibly human, even in their weaknesses, their horrors. Beautiful portraits that I am not ready to forget . I had a hard time leaving Scout. What a beautiful little girl! I wish I had a girl as passionate, vagabond, frank and lively. I also loved Jem with its sensitivity, revolts, ... is a book that we do not give up, the short chapters are linked together, the plot is thrilling, touching and the characters so alive, we tremble with indignation, we laugh reflections Scout, we ' nauseated, feel happy, we question ... Simply a wonderful novel! The last pages me totally caught up, they kept me in suspense, my whole body trembled for Scout and Jem ... My heart sank, imagining anger withholding Atticus! Many emotions in a few pages ...
Do not shoot the mockingbird me want to read other classics U.S. statements on the South and racism. I want to read box of Uncle Tom, The Color Purple, Beloved , to read Tom Sawyer ...
Besides you order (no less) to rush on this jewel of a novel, I have nothing more to add!
"It had to do with the fact that I always wore overalls. The problem of my clothes made Aunt Alexandra fanatic. I could never be a lady ei I wore pants, and when j lens that I could do anything in a dress, she replied that I was not supposed to do things requiring pants. Aunt Alexandra's conception of my maintenance meant that I played with miniature stoves, tea sets, doll I'm wearing the necklace she had given birth to me - which was added gradually beads and it was necessary that I should be the sunshine that lit the solitary life of my father. I pointed out that one could be a ray of sunshine in pants, but Aunty said he had to behave in sunshine, gold, despite my good background, I was driving more and worse every year . "
